Using a file path means I donât have to manually dig around to find that folder it gets saved there automatically. The âshortcut-friendlyâ file path should look like this: â¨â¨â©â¨â©/â¨â©â¨-Photoâ©/â¨â©â¨-Colorsâ©/â¨â©â¨-Palettesâ©Äªs an example, I can save an image of a color palette I like into the -Palettes folder. Note: When youâll press and hold the Option key, Copy will change its name to Copy file name as Pathname. You can paste the file path anywhere you want to use it. When you paste that into a shortcut youâll have to remove iCloud Drive and Shortcuts, and replace the arrows with a slash. Press and hold the Option key from the keyboard. In my file system the file path will look something like this: â¨iCloud Drive⩠⸠â¨â©â¨Shortcuts⩠⸠â¨â©â¨â© ⸠â¨â©â¨-Photo⩠⸠â¨â©â¨-Colors⩠⸠â¨â©â¨-Palettesâ© Long press the section called Where, which is the file path, and tap Copy.File information is shown in this area, like creation/modified/last opened dates.This is the âGUIâ way where the Files window appears and you can search around to find the file you need or save it in a particular folder. If you turn that toggle off it will instead ask you for the file path, which is the âcommand lineâ way to get things done. ![]() Both actions have a toggle to show the document picker. Navigate to the directory of that file or folder Copy address as text Paste the full path to a notepad Click on Home tab Click copy path Open in location. There are two actions in particular in Shortcuts that Iâm referring to: Get File and Save File. Itâs an easy way to copy file paths so you donât have to type them out. This tip is something I accidentally discovered today and itâs helpful if, like me, you have certain shortcuts that grab and save content from folders.
